CHLOE BAINES has been committed to upcycling and exploring ethical, sustainable fashion since 2014. After completing a foundation course in art and design, they studied Fashion Design and Development BA (Hons) at London College of Fashion in 2019. Following graduation, Baines worked with renowned British designer Gareth Pugh and embarked on a freelance career in event management across fashion, nightlife, and sports events, as well as styling, visual merchandising, and their own design work.

In 2019, CHLOE BAINES launched their first collection, In Tents: The After Party, made entirely from upcycled tents, which gained attention in publications like BRICKS, KALTBLUT, and BON Magazine and was featured in Selfridges’ Bright New Things initiative.

In June 2021, CHLOE BAINES then created PEGGED – a fashion collection from entirely upcycled fabrics. This collection was showcased digitally as a fashion film directed by Baines’ friend, Joe Austin at London Fashion Week in 2021. The collection celebrates gender fluidity and queer identity. Items from PEGGED were featured in i-D magazine, and CHLOE BAINES went on to create custom looks for vogue balls and music videos.

Furthering their studies with Make Your Own Masters, Baines explored their relationship with fashion design and navigated the complexities of the fashion system. Baines’ work challenges the consumer relationship with fashion and examines how upcycling can bridge the gap to more ethical, sustainable practices. Believing in the power of collaboration to inspire positive change, Baines advocates for healthier habits within the industry.

Alongside their studies, CHLOE BAINES curated the Upcyclists in Residence pop-up at Selfridges (2023-2024) and further launched UP YOURS in 2025, taking residence at Imprint Works and offering bookable upcycling services to create sustainable, affordable, and personalized fashion.
